The Municipality of Tirana has reacted regarding some news published in the media on the general public transport subscription. In an official announcement, the Municipality clarifies that in order to improve the conditions and service of transport lines in the capital, the general season ticket will be removed from circulation only for 3 summer months and will return again in September.
“Based on the news published in some media, regarding the general subscription of public transport, the Municipality of Tirana wants to clarify that: Due to numerous complaints of citizens, as well as monitoring by field inspectors, the Municipality of Tirana has planned a three-month period for carrying out verifications and measurements for the reorganization and restructuring of the transport service. During this period, the Municipality of Tirana will request the public transport operators of the city to return to full terms of service, according to the terms of the contract, respecting the technical conditions before the pandemic and offering full service with 100% of the capacity of tools in operation. For this reason, the general public transport subscription will be removed from circulation only for a temporary period of 3 months (June, July, August), in order to adapt the travel structure to the new travel volumes, as well as the decisions that will to be related to the routes of the lines, frequencies, conditions of service, during the period of full service, ”announces the Municipality of Tirana.
This period will serve for the study and analysis of the situation, in order to restructure the lines in itineraries, frequencies, service conditions, as well as the redistribution of passenger volumes.
“General subscribers will go on sale again in September, while subscribers for special lines will be on sale normally, during June, July and August, and onwards. The reorganization and restructuring of the public transport service in Tirana is being done in cooperation with GIZ, ”the Municipality of Tirana closes the announcement.
