The explosion of Ilir Meta against the United States of America after the announcement of the decision for the inclusion in the black list of the tool Sali Berisha and his family, exceeding the shy attitude of Lulzim Basha, was expected and a product of the Berisha-Meta line against justice reform and the role of the West in Albania. Ever since they last blackmailed each other with videos, murder charges and blackmail in March 2015, Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta have joined an alliance against the US, political normalcy in Albania and the new justice system. which they see as their political end, while exerting constant pressure on Lulzim Basha to pull him into their line.
Meta’s harsh language against the most important ally of the Albanian nation, the United States of America, adds to the suspicions that the ally to whom the US State Department refers in the announcement of Berisha’s blacklisting, as an accomplice of Berisha in the rise of a corrupt system, is precisely Meta. Even in the political, media and diplomatic circles, the rumors that Ilir Meta is included in the black list are increasing, but his announcement will be made after the possible dismissal of the President.
Meta considers the decision of the US State Department as an “ugly, treacherous and dirty act, which has to do only with anti-Albanian lobbying” and according to him was commissioned by Tirana. Referring to the US, Meta says that “they can no longer surprise us with their impudence”. It is no coincidence that Meta speaks in the plural, including his ally Berisha, whom he defends, but at the same time anticipates his possible inclusion in the black list after Berisha.
But is Ilir Meta’s position true and principled or does it reflect his political interests, in this case contrary to the principle of representing the unity of the people that the President symbolizes? If we refer to Ilir Meta’s accusations against Sali Berisha over the years, the US decision to blacklist Sali Berisha and his family can be considered delayed. Ilir Meta accused Sali Berisha for exactly the same reasons, for which the United States of America has decided to declare him non grata.
Meta has expressed the conviction from the beginning that Sali Berisha is the main responsibility for the tragedy of Gërdec, where as it turned out that behind the business of death was his family. According to Ilir Meta, Sali Berisha has designed pyramid schemes and abused the privatization of public assets. In March 2015, Meta stated that he had a serious video about Shkelzen Berisha, a video which he used as blackmail against Berisha. Meta has also accused Berisha of influencing justice, another argument referred by the US State Department, to declare non grata.

“He is terrified to create a parliamentary commission of inquiry for Gerdec, this is the biggest accusation for this Parliament, when a commission of inquiry has been set up in the US for this issue. No Americans have been killed, while 30 of us have been killed, and here is still blocked, out of all procedures, a request that has been made and signed by MPs to investigate the ammunition trade. In ’97, Berisha returned with the vocabulary he used against the deputy and everyone. “But our Parliament also came back in ’97, when it attacked the Americans, ousting them and the Europeans from the lodge.”
