A new development center is working on Scout delivery robots. Amazon is setting up a development center in Finland for its Scout distribution robots, which are supposed to walk the sidewalks independently.
The team in Helsinki, which initially has a good dozen employees, needs to develop software that vehicles can use to avoid obstacles. Amazon has so far allowed small robots, which look like a cold box on six wheels, to move to four locations in the United States.
Delivery robots have so far been used mainly to a limited extent in individual areas as well as in enterprises or university premises. In Germany, among other things, Amazon is increasingly relying on self-directed deliveries instead of postal services.
Recall, that Toyota unveiled a new robot that can do the interior of the house such as cleaning tables and wiping other surfaces. Toyota has shown various robots before, including one playing a violin. Last year, the company unveiled a 6ft-10-inch droid, the CUE 4, that could run across a basketball court, pick up a ball and make an “accurate hit.”
Recently, a prototype of a flying machine completed a 35-minute flight between the international airports in Nitra and Bratislava in Slovakia. The company’s hybrid aircraft, the AirCar, is powered by a BMW engine and runs on regular gasoline-fueled fuel.
