World number one Novak Djokovic continues his journey to “Roland Garros”, reaching the quarterfinals. The Serbian tennis player qualified for the next stage after the withdrawal in the fifth set of the Italian Musetti.
The number 75 in the world exceeded expectations at the beginning, winning two sets 7-6, but in the other two sets his game drops significantly, maybe even from pulling on the opponent’s back.
“Nole” wins the third set 6-1, while the fourth 6-0, leading the match to the fifth final set. Musetti fails to get any game and when the set was 4-0, he eventually withdrew. Djokovic in the quarterfinals will face another Italian Berretini, number 9 in the world.
The reigning champion, Rafael Nadal, number 3 in the world had it easier against the other Italian Sinner, winning 3-0, respectively with sets 7-5, 6-3 and 6-0. The Italian competed to some extent only in the first set.
The 13-time winner of the Paris Grand Slam will face Argentina’s Schwartzman in the quarterfinals, who won 3-0 against Germany’s Struf. The other two quarterfinal pairs are Zverev-Davidovich Fokina and Tsitsipas-Medvedev.
