The University Clinical Hospital Service of Kosovo is requesting from the Ministry of Health ̈ the addition of about 600 nurses in the health system. The directorate of the hospital service has considered as a minimum requirement the increase of the medical staff, as the fulfillment of the needs of the patients towards the medical service, has become even more difficult during the pandemic.
COVID-19 has highlighted another risk in terms of pandemic and lack of nursing staff. In the absence of medical staff, relatives of coronavirus patients have stayed close to their sick relatives.
This has been dangerous not only for the patient but also for the spread of the infection to the community.
In addition to many other challenges for pandemic management, numri The limited number of nursing staff has also been challenging, as many of them have left to practice abroad.
Based on the analysis of the nurses’ union, in order to increase the quality of medical services, it is necessary to add 5 thousand nurses in the entire health system of Kosovo.
According to this union the lack of high number of nurses has directly reflected on the quality of service to patients.
