During their visit to Belgrade, Miroslav Lajcak and Matthew Palmer also met with the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirije. Lajcak said that they discussed the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia with the Serbian cleric.
The Bosnian doctor of political science, Jasmin Mujanovi ka, reacted harshly to such a meeting with Porfirija, calling it a terrible decision, since, according to him, the leaders of religious institutions should not be factorized in issues related to politics.
After this meeting, the Serbian patriarch himself, Porfirije, spoke, saying that for the Serbs, “Kosovo is what Jerusalem is for Israel.
“For Serbs, Kosovo is what Jerusalem is for the Jews and the Patriarchate of Peja for the Orthodox Church is what the Vatican is for the Catholic Church,” Porfirije said, Novosti writes, Gazeta Express reports.
