The EU Ambassador to Tirana, Luigi Soreca, called on the entire political spectrum in Albania to commit to the implementation of the Justice Reform.
Present at the roundtable “5 years since the Justice Reform”, Ambassador Soreca stressed that the EU is very committed to this reform, even financially, and according to him, responsibility will be required for involvement in its implementation.
“It is important to demand more leadership from across the political spectrum in order for justice reform to succeed. Continuing this reform is one of the main priorities to move forward efficiently. Independence, the integrity of the Justice Reform is very important. The main objective for the coming years is to work hard in order to implement this reform properly. Accountability will be required for involvement in the implementation of justice reform. The legal bases should be in place, the legal framework should also be in the right place, corruption should be fought. The system must comply with European standards. Cooperation and coordination on justice reform is needed. It is encouraging to have key actors at this table. It is a good way to mark the anniversary of something so important for Albania. This is definitely important for the EU, which is investing in very important sectors. We have supported the reform and we have also thought about financial inclusion. We will not stop working, because we want to see Albania as close as possible to the EU. This has been my main commitment since my first day of work here and so it will continue to the end. The work that has been done so far on this reform has influenced the steps towards the EUSaid the ambassador.
