Dries Mertens has admitted that the match between Belgium and Italy is a special challenge for him and has admitted that after eight years at Napoli, he feels a bit Italian in himself.
The big quarterfinal challenge of ‘Euro 2020’ between these great representatives takes place on Friday night at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
“It is a special match for me, because I have been in Italy for several years, so I can help the team, but it will also be special,” the Napoli striker told a news conference.
“Do I feel Italian? Yes a little. “Maybe I make gestures like an Italian… I like to have fun, Naples is a beautiful city and it makes me very happy”, added the Belgian footballer.
Mertens has ensured that he has not contacted his friends in the Italian team since the two representatives have been assigned against each other in ‘Euro 2020’.
