Some people look naturally younger while others have a slightly more mature appearance.
Some habits can affect this, and they leave their mark first on people’s faces, writes Eat This, Not That.
Here are some of these habits:
You overdo it by consuming alcohol
Alcohol has a number of negative effects that are seen almost immediately. It causes the skin to become dehydrated, and also causes inflammation that is caused by redness and cracked capillaries. Because of all of this, you may look older than you really are.
A 2019 study, conducted on more than 2,300 women, showed that women who drank more than eight drinks a week had more wrinkles, the area under their eyes was swollen and they lost volume in the central part of the face.
Do not drink enough water
If you do not drink enough water, it can lead to dehydration, which can appear on the face with dryness, small wrinkles and dark circles. According to recent research, women should drink about 15.5 glasses of juice a day, and men 11.5. These include water, juice from food and other beverages.
You are a smoker
Cigarette smoke contains hundreds of toxins, and smoking narrows blood vessels and reduces oxygen circulation, thus supplying the skin with nutrients. It all sounds like a recipe for premature aging, and science has confirmed it to be true.
A study conducted with 79 pairs of twins showed that those who smoked had more pronounced dark circles, wrinkles around the lips and skin hanging around the cheeks.
Do not use sunscreen
If you expose your skin too much to the sun, it can result in dryness and burning, which does not go in favor of a youthful appearance. Over time, UV radiation can cause permanent damage and changes to the skin. To avoid this, you should apply a sunscreen every day, at least 30.
Eat lots of sugar
Collagen and elastin are two compounds in the skin that ensure that it remains strong and youthful. Sugar undermines it all. A recent study showed that when people consume large amounts of fructose and glucose, they bind to the amino acids in collagen and elastin thus damaging them and slowing down the skin’s natural recovery process.
You do not get enough sleep
As you sleep, many systems in the body heal and regenerate. Lack of sleep can be seen on the face, and according to a study, in women who slept well, superficial skin barrier recovered faster than in those who did not sleep well.
