The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla received today in a meeting the Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias, where they discussed about visa liberalization for Kosovo and the dialogue with Serbia,
During a joint conference, in his speech Dendias said that Greece continues to be in favor of visa liberalization and is in support of Kosovo in the rule of law.
“We are in favor of visa liberalization as your country has met all the points. Like Greece, you have the support of the rule of law, the fight against crime and corruption. We are here if you need our help in this regard. We have Greek officials within the EULEX mission working on this issue. Despite our neutral position and the status of Kosovo, we have an office in Athens which since 2019 continues to be there and deal with economic issues and we hope that this office will be even more helpful in our Greece-Kosovo relations.“, He said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla after the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Nikos Dendias, announced that Kosovo and Greece have agreed to advance the status of the Kosovo Office in Athens.
Gërvalla said that the Kosovo Office in Athens, from a simple office for economic issues, will be an office of so-called interest with access to other areas, including politics.
“The Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Greece have agreed that as a further step towards a close and dense exchange, the status of the Kosovo Office in Athens will be raised from a simple economic office to a so-called interest office with access now. not only in economic matters, but also in other areas, including politics“, She said.
Gërvalla said that Kosovo and Greece share the view that EU and NATO integration is one of the most important steps towards the stabilization of the Western Balkans.
“Kosovo’s independence is an inalienable fact and as soon as such a fact is accepted, a stable perspective is ensured for the region, Kosovo and Serbia.”
She further added that the recognition and respect of the country’s independence by all EU members, including Greece, is considered an essential contribution to stability in the Balkans.
