After the publication of the news that the Greek authorities have banned the entry of Albanian buses in Kakavija, our embassy in Athens reacted, which through a note of protest, but also with close meetings with the Deputy Minister of Transport of Greece have made possible opening of the border for Albanian travel companies.
It was the insistence of the Albanian ambassador, Luela Hajdaraga, who intervened with the Greek authorities, to avoid a crisis similar to the one a year ago at the bilateral border where thousands of Albanians were trapped below temperatures above 40 degrees due to covid measures decided by the Greek government.
The Greek Ministry of Transport stated that it was a human error made by the officials of this Ministry that brought the problem, promising that everything possible will be done so that similar situations do not happen again.
Greek authorities said that they have taken all measures so that from today the movement is carried out normally and Albanian passengers are no longer hindered at the border.
In any case, the Greek Ministry of Transport, stressed that the movement of buses will be done at 85% of their capacity and strictly implementing anti-covid protocols.
