The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, participated today in the discussion between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the EU and the Balkan countries, which was held in Slovenia.
According to the announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Minister Gërvalla, emphasized in her speech that Kosovo is on the right track regarding the issue of pandemic management. She stressed the extraordinary assistance in this regard to the EU, its member states, but also to non-EU countries such as Norway and the US.
Speaking about regional cooperation, Gërvalla focused on the idea of a common regional market as a plan and strategy for regional cooperation and conflict resolution. She stressed that there are actors in the Balkans who are trying to undermine this concept by trying to return to the old days in this region, when political and economic clashes were interrelated. She called on the EU to take the necessary steps to stop this process before it is too late.
“They call it ‘Mini-Schengen’ and they keep telling us that this is not against the road to the EU. But this is not true. We are told that it serves regional cooperation. That, too, is not true. “This process can be very dangerous for stability and peace in the Balkans.” said Gërvalla.
