In an effort to control the spread of the Coronavirus and to avoid mass infections with the Delat variant, the Vaccination Certificate enters into force in Italy today.
The Italian government decided on Thursday that even teachers must have proof of immunity from Covid-19 before entering the classroom, however such proof is not required for minor students.
Green Pass from today became mandatory for passengers on trains, planes, boats and intercity buses.
On Thursday, despite suspicions in the ruling coalition and small protests, Mario Draghi’s cabinet extended the green passport requirement for all teachers, students and long-distance transport from 1 September.
With the new measure, teachers will not be able to work without this certificate and after five days of absence, they will no longer be paid.
The Italian government has already decided that from August 6, this document will be required for those who want to eat inside restaurants and for a range of services and activities.
The new measure was imposed by the government in order to speed up the vaccination of the population to fight the Delta variant.
In March, just a month after coming to power, Draghi made vaccination mandatory for health workers.
A Green Passport is a digital or paper-based certificate that indicates that someone has received at least the first dose of the vaccine, tested negative, or recently recovered from a coronavirus.
