310 historical ammunitions of different calibers were found in the bay of Vlora during the clearing of the sea by the Albanian naval forces and the French navy.
This latest activity has contributed to the ‘cleansing’ of the bay of Vlora, a very frequented tourist place, whose safety has been improved in this way. Bay of Vlora is 19 km long and 16 km wide starting from Cape Triport and ending at Cape Gjuhëza, between which is the island of Sazan.
The news is announced by the French embassy in Tirana through a post on social networks.
“In cooperation with the Albanian naval forces commanded by the frigate captain Sabri Gjinollari, a former student of the War School in Paris, many activities were carried out such as: maneuvering exercises and sailing with the patrol boat Oriku; expertise of a grounded wreck obstructing the Pashaliman naval base; search for unexploded ordnance by divers and specialized technical equipment (FVA).
This latest activity made possible in particular the discovery and release of 310 historical ammunition of various calibers, contributing to the disintegration of the bay of Vlora, an important tourist site, whose security has been improved in this way.
This fruitful cooperation, says the embassy, makes it possible to anticipate the pursuit of activities of common interest on the occasion of the next stops of the French Navy in Albania.
