Israeli authorities have called on 12- to 15-year-olds to be vaccinated against Covid-19 for fear of spreading the Delta variant.
Israel has seen a drop in infections in recent weeks, but the country has reported new cases in two schools, increasing the positivity rate from 0.1% to 0.3% on Saturday and to 0.6% today, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry is expected to issue a recommendation for vaccination of 12-15 year olds. So far, the government has left the decision to parents whether or not they want to vaccinate their children, said Nahman As, coordinator of the national pandemic management campaign.
Moreover, Israeli officials may impose fines on parents of unvaccinated children who are not quarantined.
