CIES, the center for international football studies, tried to make a statistically based prediction. Studies show that national teams with more players playing in top-level teams are more likely to win trophies.
According to the CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post, no. 340, the estimates are supported by calculating the average sporting level of the clubs in which the players selected in the national teams that will take part in the European competition this summer play,
The big favorite, without surprises, is France. After the World Champions in Power, is Germany and Spain. In fourth place is England. At the bottom of the ranking, the team of Northern Macedonia and Finland. Group F is the most complex, with three teams among the top five favorites.
The maximum value was recorded for the players of the English team (2,496 minutes), while the lowest was recorded in Ukraine (average 1,390 minutes in the national championship for the footballer).
With an average age of 24.9 on June 1st, Turkey is the youngest team. She leaves behind England (25.2 years old) and Wales (25.5 years old). At the other extreme we find Sweden (29.2 years old), followed by Belgium (29.1 years old) and Slovakia (28.2 years old). Kacper Kozlowski, born on October 16, 2003, is the youngest player, while Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg (September 22, 1982) is the oldest player.
