Epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti spoke today about the “Delta” variant of the coronavirus, giving good news.
According to him, studies have shown that the clinical signs of this variant are milder, so “Delta” is less deadly than other variants.
“All the literature available at the moment clearly states that the risk of infection from the Delta variant is the same as the other previous variants.
Fortunately, the number of re-infections and severe cases is much smaller. Even if infected, it very rarely occurs in a severe form.
Delta is the most transmissible variant, but clinically it does not look wilder. On the contrary, the clinical signs are milder and make it more confusing with other viruses, it is more similar to the common flu.
In the CDC report, which takes data from England, the mortality of known cases with Delta is 0.3%. the Alpha variant is 2.0%. “Normal flu is 0.15%”, said Alimehmeti in Top Talk.
But according to Dr. Alimehmeti, the best solution to protect yourself from the virus is vaccination. “The best solution today is vaccination, it can never be advice go and get infected,” said the doctor.
