Prime Minister Edi Rama has gathered for the new procurement package. In the last meeting, Rama had gathered the mayors to present the main points of this package, as he warned them that they would have the same fate as Fatos Tushe, the arrested mayor of Lushnja, if they abused the tenders.
Prime Minister Edi Rama has indicated that 70% of the tenders made had problems, where most had problems in terms of drafting criteria. What he sees as problematic, Rama said is the non-reaction of institutions after the recommendations by e Procurement Agency.
“The new package addresses the need to increase the integrity and accountability of all parties in this process, to strengthen the monitoring and punishment mechanisms for violations found, so I want to make in a few words in a concise balance which will I encourage you to look at it specifically by fields because it has important data.936 procedures published by these institutions were assisted, among which 70% of the procedures were problematic in drafting the criteria and for this reason recommendations were sent to the relevant institutions by the Procurement Agency. 20% of institutions did not respond and did not reflect on the recommendations. “Recommendations are not written in stone, they are not indisputable, but it is indisputable that not reacting to them in writing to discuss with arguments is a flagrant violation of state ethics.”, said Rama.
