It is the only appeal that can be made to the Doctor and his followers, in the conditions when Sali Berisha has decided to declare war on America and when the party seems to have no thread of courage and integrity, to say “stop” this hardy step. Better to hide behind the incumbent president after June 13, Sali Berisha and the Berisha Democrats should do the only honest thing in relation to their party: to link him openly and publicly after the Doctor’s court battles, forcing them to end his political fate.
This would be fairer than the eight-year-old theater, where Lulzim Basha pretended to direct, while Berisha pretended not to understand anything from his tower. All the more imperative is a clarification of reports and balances in the head of the Democratic Party now, when in addition to rising as the opposition, the DP will have to face the personal legal battle of its founder with the US administration.
Sali Berisha is proving to us these hours that he has no desire to allow the DP to have a life of its own, out of fate and his long political career. Even these hours he is seeking to identify himself violently with the party, blaming it on the personal trouble that has plagued them with Washington.
This imposition will become even more visible when the DP enters the Assembly and starts its long path in opposition.
