The Speaker of the Assembly of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, stated on Tuesday that the dialogue with Kosovo is not moving towards a successful conclusion.
According to him, the Kosovar side is to blame for this stalemate.
“The other side does not want compromise, but only an independent state. The only thing they want is for the international community to put pressure on Serbia, as a result of which Belgrade will recognize Kosovo. “This is unacceptable to us.” said Dacic.
Meanwhile, regarding the role of the United States in providing solutions to the Kosovo-Serbia problems, Dacic said that Serbia welcomes all those who can positively influence this process.
“But in order to reach a peace agreement, Russia and China, permanent members of the UN Security Council, must be involved in this process. Ultimately, the Security Council will have to vote on the final decision“, He said, among other things.
He stated that the positive outcome of the upcoming meeting between the Presidents of the US and Russia, Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin, will contribute to a higher level of international trust and cooperation.
““We believe it will be very beneficial for everyone to reduce tensions in relations between Russia and the United States.” Dacic said in an interview with Russian media.
He said that Serbia is in favor of membership in the European Union, but that “definitely” will not impose any sanctions against Russia.
“Serbs are in favor of membership in the European Union. Our geostrategic position is such that this is one of our goals. However, we would not join the EU if it were contrary to our state and national interests. Russia is our friend and partner“, Said Dacic.
