A team of Chinese researchers claim to have set a new record in quantum computing and that their computer is far more powerful than the world has ever seen.
According to them the quantum computer they own had managed to solve a problem with 56 of the 66 cubic meters available, a bit equivalent to a conventional computer.
It is a big step forward compared to Google’s Sycamore processor which has only 54 bits. In 2019 Google said that the computer they had was the first to achieve quantum supremacy, the threshold where quantum computers solve problems that classical computers cannot solve.
The Chinese quantum computer had solved a problem in 70 minutes that the most powerful classic supercomputer in the world takes 8 years.
However building and using quantum computers is a challenge in itself. They need to be kept at temperatures of 273.15 degrees Celsius to use their full potential. / PCWorld Albanian
