The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Bernabic, reacted after the apology requested by the President of the Czech Republic, Milos Zeman, for the NATO bombing in 1999, calling it a historic act “and a great gesture.
In an interview with local media, she stressed that she was convinced that no one in NATO was pleased that Zeman apologized for bombing Serbia.
Commenting on the fact that the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babish, said that the statement was Zeman’s personal position, she said that Zeman “is a great and serious politician”.
“It did not come from someone there who accidentally became president“, Stressed Bernabic, adding that this apology means a lot to him personally.
The Serbian prime minister said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was also surprised when Zeman apologized.
““I think that Vucic, over the years, has built a different image of Serbia and different political ties with other countries, so we have reached the point where such a politician apologizes.”, said Bernabic.
