The uniqueness of the typical Arbëresh clothing has aroused curiosity centuries ago. The photograph, taken in 1896, brings Calabrian folk costumes with ancient prints and engravings (16th – 19th centuries).
The costume worn by the characters in the photo is known as the costume of San Martino di Finita, a small town of Albanian origin in the province of Cosenza.
On the back of the photograph is written “Costume of San Martino di Finita, presented by Albanians at the Folklore and Costume Exhibition in Naples, in 1896.
