US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has congratulated Prime Minister Edi Rama on the outcome of the April 25 elections.
He congratulated Rama on winning the April 25 elections, while emphasizing that through these peaceful elections, Albania has demonstrated its readiness to open EU accession negotiations.
According to Blinken, Albania is a strong NATO ally praising progress towards the Wales Oath.
Recall that with the congratulations to Rama, Blinken shows that the elections of April 25 are valid, despite the marathon of PD and LSI in KAS and Electoral College.
The United States a few weeks ago declared former Prime Minister and historical leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, ‘non grata’.
Blinken Congratulations:
Honorable Mr. Prime Minister:
Congratulations to you and your party on your electoral success. I also want to congratulate the people of Albania who, despite the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic, exercised their fundamental rights in the country’s 10th national elections since the fall of communism. I look forward to working with you during your third term as Prime Minister to further strengthen our cooperation on democracy and defense, as well as trade and investment. We will continue to support Albania as it works to strengthen the rule of law, improve government accountability and carry out justice reform. Through these peaceful elections, Albania has further demonstrated its readiness to open EU accession negotiations. Albania is a strong NATO Ally and we congratulate you on your progress towards the Wales Oath. We are grateful for our cooperation in the field of defense and we highly appreciate Albania for hosting Defender 21. We face many crises across the globe, and I am confident that together we can stand up to meet these historic challenges. We have an opportunity and a responsibility to build a peaceful future rooted in freedom and prosperity for all.
Sincerely,
Antony J. Blinken
