From Korça, the German Ambassador to Albania, Peter Zingraf, after a meeting with the Mayor of Korça, Sotiraq Filo, spoke about the integration of our country in the EU.
Ambassador Zingraf was asked if negotiations for Albania would be opened this year, calling this a $ 1 million question.
“It’s a $ 1 million question, we wanted to, we will work with partners and we still hope it will be the window of opportunity, we need it, we want to keep our promises as the European Union but it does not depend on us, and “Yes, we want to go there and do everything we can with our partners,” said the ambassador.
Further, the German chief diplomat was asked that “Yesterday marks 5 years since the adoption of the justice reform, is it time for results in the fight against corruption of high-level officials?”
“This is always an issue, we have seen that reform has its effects and needs time to move forward, reform requires all the support, with support it can be achieved, pragmatic and practical approaches can help institutions decide “to advance the new reform architecture, and it needs to continue to move forward,” Zingraf said.
To the question that “the opposition in September will demand in parliament a new territorial and electoral reform, should the majority and the opposition work together for these reforms?”, The ambassador replied that “I understand that we will have a different parliament again after the opposition returned to parliament and both partners have said that electoral reform should continue as there are things that were not resolved last year and each partner has expressed that they will go after what is left behind, i would welcome the continuation of the process of this reform, this is what concerns the parliament “.
