The application that is expected to compete with the Tik Tok social network, YouTube Shorts, has been introduced globally and now YouTube users can use this new video service almost anywhere in the world.
The Shorts service was first launched in India last year, before expanding to around 26 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Shorts will now be available “in more than 100 countries around the world where YouTube is also available”.
YouTube Shorts is trying to compete with TikTok to become the first choice for users worldwide when it comes to short videos.
It has also been claimed that ways are being studied for links from short clips to videos on YouTube from which they share music.
Ironically, as YouTube tries to mimic the TikTok format, TikTok is experimenting with formats that are closer to the traditional focus of YouTube. It has recently tripled the maximum video length to three minutes for everyone and is slowly introducing apps on TV platforms like Android TV and Fire TV.
