The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, visited this morning the municipality of Suhareka, which has been affected by fires for several days.
According to Express, Kurti, after holding a meeting with the mayor of Suhareka, Bali Muharremaj, together with him went to the village of Studençan to see the situation closely. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development has invited citizens to take maximum care in the protection of forests, nature and the environment.
This ministry has said that at a time when the country is facing high temperatures, unfortunately a disturbing phenomenon is appearing, endangering people’s lives, economic consequences and environmental damage. The Ministry of Agriculture has invited all responsible institutions starting from the municipalities, Municipal Units of the Kosovo Forest Agency, fire service and police to coordinate actions, as well as increased care in preventing fires and mobilizing in their extinguishing.
Forests make up about 44.7 percent of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. Forest fires, in addition to wood, also endanger wild flora and fauna.
