On Tuesday, June 29, the Albanian-Canadian Bar Association in Toronto will hold a seminar with guest panelists, Albanian lawyers in Canada who run their law firms. These successful entrepreneurial advocates in Canada will share their various experiences, lessons, challenges and rewards of owning a law firm.
The seminar called “Total Control: What it takes to go solo” will take place through the “Zoom” platform at 18:00 Toronto time. This is the second seminar of this association, after the one on immigration law in Canada called “Road to Citizenship: Immigration Law Webinar”, which was attended by many interested in immigration in Canada.
The event is open to all interested parties, but is tailored for lawyers wishing to open their own law firm in Canada.
The first guest panelist is Denisa Mertiri, founder of the Green Earth Law firm in Toronto, which specializes in environmental and municipal law. Denisa uses her legal expertise to make the world greener by working with the Canadian provinces on regulatory, criminal and corporate matters.
The second panelist is Marin Nati, founder of Toronto-based law firm Nati & Caborubias, which deals with criminal matters, family law and real estate. He appears regularly before the Supreme Court in Ottawa. He is also one of the leaders of the board of the host association and leads the process of implementing the right to vote of the Diaspora in the Republic of Albania after the law was approved last year.
The other panelist, Hana Marku, has just opened her law firm in Toronto. She will focus on immigration and refugee law in her lecture. Its purpose is to build an information firm on the specific trauma of LGBTQ women and persons fleeing violence or persecution. Hana is also one of the founders of “Albanian Active Now”, an online space for Albanians around the world with progressive politics.
The event will be moderated by Anisa Arra, who runs the law firm “Arra Law Firm” and the Albanian-Canadian Bar Association.
The association since its establishment in 2019 has aimed to unite and promote Albanian lawyers with each other and to represent these lawyers with a common voice, who come from different fields. The public announcement of the association invites all those who have further questions to contact the above lawyers through the website of the association: www.acla-sask.com/ontariodirectory or by email: hello@acla-sask.com, or attend the seminar.
