As citizens are fighting for their lives behind floods in Germany, their personal belongings are being devoured by robbers.
The media suggest that they have taken advantage of the situation by entering abandoned premises by people fleeing for fear of floods.
A 45-year-old man who sells women’s clothing told the German newspaper Bild that his clothes worth 1,000 euros were stolen by several people seeking help from police. Officers patrolled several towns throughout the afternoon after on three occasions witnesses reported seeing people in flooded shops. A suspect was arrested inside a jewelry store.
