The Delta variant is turning into a new threat to the whole world and the hope that we will return to normal life this summer seems more and more distant.
“Every country in the country, mainly Washington, is experiencing an increase in Delta cases,” said Anand Swaminathan, a doctor in the emergency room.
Last week alone, more than 26,000 new cases of covid were reported in the US, up 67% from a week earlier, according to data from Johns Hokpins University.
“It is coming for us. He is a beast. We have seen this in our hospitals. “That’s why we’re so nervous,” said Dr. Catherine O’Neal.
The delta variant of Covid-19, originally reported in India, is spreading across the United States, endangering those who have not yet been vaccinated against the coronavirus.
“Either we will be vaccinated en masse and put an end to covid or we will have to accept death,” says O’Neal.
The most at risk are those who have not been vaccinated yet, young people.
“Now we are mainly seeing young people being infected with covid. They are not only going through it hard but also need hospital treatment. This is what is happening. “But what young people do not understand is that at this point they will experience what is known as the long effect of Covid,” said Dr. Anand Swaminathan, doctor in the emergency room.
In response to the rise in covid infection, some areas are restoring masks, including California and Nevada.
