Pfizer-BioNTech firms will ask US and European Union drug agencies for permission to inject a third dose. Foreign media write that the decision comes as the Delta variant is spreading rapidly all over the world.
Manufacturers Pfizer-BioNTech said they would seek permission from US and European authorities to provide a third dose of their vaccine. They said this had to do with providing stronger immunity in individuals than that donated by two doses. According to them two doses of the vaccine protect against COVID-19 for at least 6 months.
On the other hand experts say it is too early to know for sure if the countries will have to organize a third round of vaccines during the year. Some suggest that priority should be given to places where residents have not yet received their first dose.
