An old Arvanite poem in the manuscript of the author Kristo N.Petru-Mesogjiti, is in the rich archive of the library of the area of Kalivia, Greece. The verses are knitted for Mother’s Day (May 10).
In them is revealed the endless love of the Arvanites, respect and adoration for the mother.
The poem was written on April 30, 1942, as a rare dedication by the mayor of the Saronikos area in Attica, Petros Filippou, to the birth and social influence of all mothers in the world.
Filippou, in addition to a remarkable political career, is also among the most passionate scholars and collectors of Arvanitian history, part of which is also his family.
The Albanian population living in Greece is divided into two groups, the Arvanites who are native and known since ancient times and live in 450 villages and the Albanians whom the Greeks call allvani and came to Greece after the Ottoman occupation and who live in over 150 villages.
The villages inhabited by the Arvanites who speak Albanian in their hearth, are located in the area of Epirus, in Thrace, in the islands of Corfu, Speca, Hidra, Psaron, Andron, Peloponnese, etc.
