After conquering the screens, Corning has decided to bring Gorilla Glass to the cameras as well. The DX and DX + models will be available for camera lenses starting with Samsung phones.
In addition to added protection, Corning says the technology improves the optical performance of smartphone cameras.
According to the company the DX glass reflects less light from the camera lens. Currently even with the use of an anti-reflective coating, only 92% of the transmitted light enters the smartphone camera.
Corning says DX and DX + glasses can allow 98% of light to penetrate while reducing optical problems such as shadows. Some smartphone manufacturers are working with specialized companies to address this problem.
Sony and Vivo use Zeiss to increase light transmission and reduce reflections and shadows. Finally Corning says the glass is very close to the resistance level of sapphire glass with a degree of 9 on the Mohs scale.
Gorilla Glass is used today by 8 billion devices from 45 well-known brands. Apple has invested $ 450 million in Corning in 2017 and 2019, thus recognizing their area of expertise as one of the best in the world. / PCWorld Albanian
