Hundreds of firefighters and rescue workers are searching the rubble of a 12-storey building, part of which collapsed early this morning.
The incident took place in Surfside, Florida. At least one person has died and officials say they have not been able to contact the other 99.
In addition to the permanent residents in the building are thought to reside persons who spend the winter months in Florida.
A fire service official said 35 people were rescued.
According to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, there are likely to be more casualties under the rubble. Authorities are still unsure how many people were inside the building at 2am when part of the palace collapsed.
The 130-apartment building was built in 1981 and about 80 of them are occupied by residents.
