Seven thousand five hundred delegates of the National Assembly of the Democratic Party gather today to vote for the new National Council of this political force.
The presidency of the blue headquarters approved at the session of the presidency two days ago the full list of candidates with 600 names, from which 300 members will be elected in the end. The long list of proposals of the leader of the Democrats did not bring any surprises, as Basha saw it appropriate to send to vote all the members of the presidency and those of the National Council, including his critics, Edith Harxhin, the former secretary general, Arben Ristani, and the chairman of the council, Bujar Nishani. But the latter due to the high positions he has held is not subject to voting by being automatically elected.
What arouses curiosity is that after strong criticism of Basha, will he re-propose Nishani’s name again to lead the National Council or the leader of the Democrats has decided to entrust the leadership of this body to another figure with weight in the DP. Also, on Saturday, the statutory changes proposed by the leader of the Democrats, Basha, will be voted, the only ones that received the consent of the presidency.
Through them, Basha aims to expand the presidency, the National Council, increase the secretariats and that of vice presidents. The National Assembly will also be acquainted with the analysis of the loss of the Democrats in the elections, which they consider an electoral massacre. “The National Assembly starts the meeting at 11:00, in the premises of the Palace of Congresses.
The voting process opens at 12:00 and ends at 16:00. The counting process starts at 18:00 at the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Albania. The Secretary General is in charge of notifying and monitoring the implementation of this order.
“After the confirmation of the order by the National Assembly, the Commission for the Management of the Works of the National Assembly and the members of the Voting and Counting Commissions are in charge of its implementation”, it is said in the preliminary agenda approved by the DP leadership.
The meeting of the National Assembly of the Democratic Party will be opened by the leader of the Democrats Lulzim Basha, meanwhile the agenda envisages that the 19 political leaders will keep their word, speaking for 10 minutes. In the presidency two days ago, the leader of the Democrats, Basha, instructed the political leaders to talk only about what he calls the election massacre.

What is certain is that July will not be peaceful within the Democrats. “Panorama” newspaper learns that the leader of the Democrats, Basha, plans to make the necessary changes by the end of this month in the DP leadership, secretariats or even vice-presidents. It will be the new members of the National Council who will elect the new presidency or even the secretaries or vice-presidents.
Meanwhile, the new changes will be made according to the statute with the changes proposed by the leader of the Democrats Basha that is expected to be approved today. The new statute provides for a more extended DP chairman, more secretaries and more DP vice-chairmen. As for the names, there is still no information so far.
