The Central Election Commission held today a meeting to review the result of the Prosecution for the Mayor of Gjirokastra, Qerim Ismailaj. Ismailaj, after the verifications of the Prosecution, was sentenced in Greece to 3 years in prison.
During this meeting, the legal representative of the mayor of Mallakastra, has asked to postpone the hearing because according to him is not enough time to present the defense in writing.
“On 30.6.2021 we were notified to appear in this session. On the same date I received representation by proxy to exercise effective protection. I would ask that the request for another hearing be considered. It takes time to submit a written defense because the deadline is very short “, he said.
The CEC closed today’s session by accepting the request, while deciding that the meeting will take place on Friday, 02. 07.2021, at 11:00.
Meanwhile, the mayor himself did not participate in today’s meeting.
