The British Sky Brown will be the youngest athlete to take part in an Olympics: 13 years and 11 days at the time she will compete in Japan, on August 4, in the skateboard discipline.
She will break the record of swimmer Margery Hinton, set at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam, who competed when she was 13 years and 44 days old.
Brown, who will celebrate her 13th birthday during the Olympics, said that to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan this summer is a dream come true. She aims to inspire people and will compete for the gold medal in the skateboard race, where she will represent the UK.
After today’s announcement, at the age of 13 years and 11 days, Sky Brown is set to become our youngest ever summer Olympian.
