Prime Minister Edi Rama described as unjustifiable the lack of ethics of police officers in communicating with citizens. This statement was made by the head of government during a meeting, which was attended by Interior Minister Bledi Çuçi and representatives of the State Police.
“Today I would like to publicly ask you for a series of concerns, but above all the expectations and objectives shared together with the Minister regarding the work of the police. First of all, I would like to wish good luck to all the new leaders of the districts and hope that these movements, which will be accompanied by further movements throughout the police pyramid up to the level of commissariats, will be valid for a re-energization in a phase of re which includes the reform and further transformation of the police.
There is no doubt that the police today have many reasons to be proud of their work, but on the other hand exactly why the police have given the proof that in this country there can be a police of European standards and the expectation and dissatisfaction of citizens is at the same level significant. The expectation on the one hand is related to the necessity for the police to move faster and give results at every step. Dissatisfaction goes hand in hand with expectation.
I want to start this ranking of problems from the relationship of the state police with the citizens which is the A and Z of everyday life. It is unjustifiable that the referred cases of lack of ethics in communication with citizens, especially by the eagle forces and the general patrol that often go beyond their own role, be marked as increased cases. “Increasing cases of lack of ethics with citizens is very significant to understand the general psychological situation and the general level of mobilization of police forces that are in constant contact with the concerns and needs of citizens.” said Rama.
