Shortly before the closure of air borders by the pandemic in March last year, ticket prices from Rinas had marked a significant drop due to increased competition.
Tickets to Italy or Vienna were also reduced to 15-20 euros one way, by low cost operators like Wizz Air and Easyjet. Their entry forced other companies to offer cheaper tickets.
The limitations of the pandemic completely changed the air market all over the world and in Albania. Italy’s weight fell and new destinations gradually expanded.
Yesterday, after 16 months of restrictions, the Governments of the European Union agreed to add to the list where non-essential travel is allowed eight countries and territories, among which is Albania. Countries can individually choose to request a Covid-19 negative test or a quarantine period, or whether they will recognize Chinese and Russian vaccines, in addition to those approved by the European Medicines Agency (Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneka, Johnson & Johson) .
But now that the roads are opening, tickets are no longer as cheap as before, especially in the months when it is not the peak of the season. Tickets priced at 15-20 euros are hard to find anymore. Monitor has made a survey on the websites of airlines that offer direct flights, for departures around 2 August and return around 6 and in September (low season) for return ticket prices on 20-24 September.
