The husband of a 20-year-old student who was found murdered a few weeks ago in Greece has admitted authorship of the crime. Greek media suggest that after 8 hours of questioning by the Greek police, 32-year-old Babis Anagnostopoulos admitted this Thursday that he was the one who killed his wife.
He confessed to the authorities that his wife had threatened to take the 11-month-old child and leave. The evidence provided by the police was indisputable to the 32-year-old who was forced to admit guilt which led to his arrest.
EVIDENCE THAT ENDED THE AUTHOR
After more than a month of investigation, police managed to find out evidence enough to identify the 32-year-old as the perpetrator of the murder of the 20-year-old student. The statements he made to the police were contradictory.
First, from the scientific expertise that has been done to all the evidence, the 20-year-old’s biometric clock recorded a rapid increase in her heart rate during the time of the crime and then this vital sign stopped.
Second, it turns out that the husband made a false statement. He told the police that the robbers entered the house and tied him with a rope, but from the analysis of his mobile phone, the application that measures the steps taken, recorded his movements around the house.
Third, security cameras around the house appear to have failed to record the moment the robbers entered, casting doubt that they had been deleted.
COUPLE RELATIONSHIP
As 32-year-old Babis Anagnostopoulos stated before the police, the couple has had disagreements recently. The 20-year-old has filed for divorce from her husband and threatened to leave home with the child. This is the motive with which her husband explains the serious crime.
HOW THE MURDER HAPPENED
The serious incident took place on May 11 in the area of Glyka Nera on the outskirts of Athens. 20-year-old Caroline Crouch was found murdered in the attic of her home next to the 11-month-old baby.
It was the husband himself who called the police stating that 3 people entered the apartment to rob. He further revealed that the robbers tied the 32-year-old to a chair where he later fainted.
His statements set in motion the Greek authorities to search for the 3 perpetrators of the “robbery” by extending their searches to Albania, Romania and Georgia. But the more they investigated, the closer the authorities came to the truth by concluding that the robbery had never taken place, until the moment the husband admitted the authorship of the crime.
