The mayor of Tuz, Nik Gjeloshaj, said he had informed Montenegro’s international partners, including the US, that the new Montenegrin government was actively discriminating against Albanians.
“The government is discriminating against Albanians and does not cooperate with our municipality. “The reasons are different, but it is mainly due to the hatred they have for the residents living in this area,” Gjeloshaj told BIRN.
“I have notified all international partners, up to the US State Department. “We are also in direct communication with our lobbyists in the US and Albanian-American organizations,” he added.
Gjeloshaj reacted earlier this month that this year’s state budget did not include any investment in Tuz, stressing that this would slow down infrastructure projects in the municipality.
“We warned the Government that this would slow down our local projects, but unfortunately we did not receive any response. “This proves that this government is working in an organized way to demolish the municipality of Tuzi as its ultimate goal,” Gjeloshaj told BIRN.
