After more than 25 years of use, Internet Explorer will retire on June 15, 2022, while Microsoft announced the end of support for the service and systems in which it will no longer be used.
The American giant had already discontinued Internet Explorer support for Teams last year and will do the same for Microsoft 365 in the coming months.
Moreover, the program will become incompatible with other home services, such as Outlook, OneDrive, and Office365, starting August 17, 2021, with a slow approach toward complete shutdown.
Microsoft has been trying to eliminate the browser for years, but despite the release of the new Edge program, Explorer still gathers 5% of global users.
From the so-called “end of support”, Microsoft will no longer release security updates for the program.
From June 15, 2022, Internet Explorer will disappear from all versions of Windows 10, except Enterprise variants, dedicated to specific areas, such as hospitals and logistics chains.
However, the Edge successor has already surpassed the road browser (over 7%). Moreover, the new browser is based on Chromium, the same code with which Google develops Chrome, which is the most used web browsing program in the world.
