The 27 ambassadors of the European Union agreed today that to remove travel restrictions for travelers from Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia. Thus, our country is included in the list of safe third countries for performing non-essential travel.
After setting the date from which the decision will enter into force, Albanian citizens can travel to EU countries by submitting a negative test for Covid-19 made 72 hours after departure. Or they can present the document proving that they are vaccinated. At least 10 union countries are expected to recognize the Chinese and Russian vaccines soon.
The issue of health is in the national competence of each EU member state, therefore, even if some countries declare themselves safe, each EU country has the right to decide on measures to fight the coronavirus.
But what will happen if our neighbor Greece, which has imposed strict restrictions on the Albanian border, decides to aggravate the situation?
Journalist Erisa Zykaj reporting from Brussels says that member states, including Greece, have given the green light to the meeting of ambassadors today and, if they want to complicate the situation, they must justify it.
“Greece has been present and has given its approval. He finds it hard not to agree tomorrow. We do not know the dates yet. But all 27 states are obliged to respect the decision. “
Currently, Greece allows only seasonal workers to cross its land borders with our country, in a certain quota, who also meet the criteria set by the Hellenic state.
