Although the presence of the Indian variant of the coronavirus, called “Delta”, has not been officially confirmed, the past 24 hours have led to an increase in cases of infection.
Thus, after many days with a minimum number of new cases, under 10, on Wednesday 13 positive people with COVID-19 were reported.
In addition, what has further added to the suspicions is the fact that two people in the Gjirokastra region have shown symptoms similar to that of the Indian variant of the coronavirus.
From the Assembly hall yesterday, the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, said that no case has been confirmed with the new version, while the situation is under monitoring.
“The ‘Delta’ threat remains a real, serious threat for our country, at a time when it is circulating in 90 countries of the world and as the evidence shows, it has a rapid, wild spread, both in some European countries and in countries of the region.
Our structures are in alert situation, to monitor all cases. “Currently we do not have a presence of this variant in Albania, so we do not have laboratory signals that show that this variant is circulating in our country, but we are monitoring every case, very carefully”, said the minister.
PHI
Meanwhile, through an official announcement, the Institute of Public Health has rejected the rumors about the arrival of the new variant.
IPH notes that it is carefully monitoring the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic in the country and for any suspected case will cooperate with the reference institutions, which means that the analysis will be sent abroad.
In these conditions, to find out whether or not the new variant is circulating in our country, we will have to wait for days, not weeks.
“The Institute of Public Health informs that so far in Albania no case of the ‘Delta’ variant has been identified. Despite the high number of tests, we have no signals for the presence of this variant in our country. The Institute of Public Health is carefully monitoring the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic in the country and for any suspected case will cooperate with the reference institutions, which is part of the work practice of this institution “, it is said in the official reaction.
But what are the symptoms or signs that patients infected with the new variant show?
Analyzing patient data, doctors say headaches and sore throats are among the most common symptoms reported by people infected with the new variant.
Also, one of the symptoms reported by those infected with the “Delta” variant is runny nose.
