US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will visit Israel and the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank on Wednesday and Thursday as part of Washington’s efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza, a source told the Associated Press.
US, Israeli and Palestinian officials have not released Blinken’s full itinerary.
The State Department announced the US Secretary of State’s visit on Thursday, saying “it will focus on recovery efforts and cooperation to build a better future for Israelis and Palestinians.”
Blinken’s trip to the Middle East will also include a visit to Egypt, which mediated a ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and Palestinian Hamas fighters.
The 11-day war between Israel and Hamas claimed the lives of more than 200 Palestinians, including 56 children, while Tel Aviv reported 11 casualties.
