Albania is included in the list of countries that are allowed to move freely in the Schengen area. Based on the criteria and conditions set in the EU recommendation, from today the member states should gradually lift the travel restrictions for residents in Albania, Australia, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, Northern Macedonia, Rwanda. , Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and USA. China, meanwhile, will be confirmed if reciprocity is established.
Immediately after this news, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, reacted. According to her, the recommendation of the EU Council came as a result of meeting the strict criteria for pandemic control in the country and the measures taken by the Albanian government to effectively address this common challenge.
Among other things, she reiterates the importance of respecting the measures by Albanian citizens, underlining that care should continue to be maximal even when moving to EU countries, which may have specific protocols even after the last recommendation.
