On May 20 and 21, a working meeting was organized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora in Kosovo with representatives and leaders from the Department for Preservation and Cultivation of Education and Culture in the Diaspora, reports albinfo.ch.
This working meeting was greeted by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, Shkëlzen Morina, who in his speech assured the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Diaspora and Minister Donika Gërvalla in the steps taken for the implementation of joint agreements between the Government of Albania and Kosovo on the diaspora.
The following issues were discussed at the meeting:
– Coordination for the planning, publication and distribution of basic books, textbooks and other teaching aids for schools with supplementary education in the Albanian language in the diaspora and in the diaspora, based on agreements signed between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania in 2015 and 2017.
– Determining the dynamics for the coordination of joint activities, joint projects and the avoidance of some organizational problems created in recent years about the organization of supplementary education in the diaspora.
In this meeting it was agreed that the first step for joint coordination of activities between the two countries in the diaspora to be taken with the organization of work for the planning and coordinated distribution of basic and auxiliary textbooks for the new school year 2021-2022. Such planning agreed between the two parties would facilitate the procedures, would enable a better delivery at lower costs. Following this process will be followed by the definition of a clear work plan for the agreed distribution of textbooks and teaching aids, after the completion of requests from diaspora teachers in relevant institutions in Albania and Kosovo.
The meeting continued with discussions about joint activities that can be organized during this year in the diaspora, such as seminars for teaching the Albanian language in Germany, Sweden, the Voice of Croatia, Greece, etc.
The leaders of this meeting Mimoza Hysa (QBD), Ymer Avdiu (MPJD) and Arbër Salihu (MEST) were also received in a meeting by the Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Education of Kosovo, Agim Bërdynaj, who provided the full support of the Ministry of Education for all joint activities for the development of supplementary education in the diaspora and in the diaspora. The conversation here focused separately on the start of intensive and immediate preparations for the organization of the National Seminar of Diaspora Teachers, which this year is intended to be held in Tuz.
As the issues discussed affect areas of competence of several institutions, in the end it was agreed to organize soon in Tirana a wider meeting, which will be attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education of Albania and Kosovo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania and Kosovo, as well as representatives of diaspora institutions.
