Vaccination of the population is an objective for governments as the only way to stop the further spread of the pandemic. Meanwhile, what is being discussed is the vaccination of adolescents.
Theoklis Zaoutis, professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology in Greece, described as “wrong impression” what has been repeatedly said that there is no risk of the virus in children or adolescents.
“There is an impression that in children or even adolescents there is no effect of the virus. This is wrong. Nor do we vaccinate young people to protect the elderly. “We are vaccinating to be able to protect each and every individual,” he told the media.
“There are currently 4 million child cases in the United States and 450 children have died from complications related to COVID-19. To understand what this means, this number is twice the number of child deaths in a very severe seasonal flu period.
“Vaccines for SARS-COV-2 have been shown to be very effective in protecting us from COVID-19 and we should not forget that,” he added.
