The heavy rains that “hit” West Germany, have caused great material damage, massively blocking roads and making it difficult for citizens and vehicles to pass.
The meteorological services have warned that due to the rains in the country, the citizens who live near the rivers should leave immediately.
According to them, this is a completely unusual situation, which can only happen in winter and not on this scale.
“We see this kind of situation only in winter usually, and with this intensity it is completely unusual in summer,” said Bernd Mehlig, an environmental official.
Some areas of Hagen have been declared isolated and inaccessible due to high water levels.
A state of emergency has been declared in the affected countries, while the situation remains serious and critical.
