Authorities in Texas say a person opened fire on a neighborhood known for its nightlife and entertainment in the city of Austin injuring 13 people before leaving.
Interim City Police Chief Joseph Chacon told a news conference that investigators are struggling to find the cause of the gunfire, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. along a well-known area with many bars and restaurants. . He said police had not been able to provide a detailed description of the person who shot him but said it was believed he was a man.
Mr Chacon said police rushed to the scene and used techniques and equipment to save the lives of the injured. Some police cars, he said, even sent the injured to hospitals as it was difficult to get ambulances on time. Two of the injured are reported to be in serious condition.
